Darius Salem Clement grave site

While in Arizona, we found and visited the grave site of Darius Salem Clement at the Mesa Cemetery.

It just seemed appropriate after visiting his home site in Fairview.  And it seemed important after reading his journals and learning more about his amazing life especially the unknown decade at the end in Mesa.  We felt we had come full circle, having visited Dryden, New York where he was born in July.

These special markers were placed on grave stones in commemoration of the pioneers who traveled to what would become Utah.  The year 1997 marked the 150 year celebration of this grand movement which began in 1847.  Darius made this arduous journey as a 13 year old orphan along with his 11 year old sister and 7 year old brother in the Heber C. Kimball Company.  Darius really did demonstrate "Faith in Every Footstep" through every footstep he made during his life journey.
