Quilts to see in Utah Valley
There are two contrasting quilt exhibits currently on display in Utah Valley. The BYU Museum of Art has Heart to Hand: Africian - American Quilts in the basement. These quilts are on loan from the Montgomery, Alabama Fine Art Museum's permanent collection. These are quilts of Alabama quilters from 1945 to 2008. They are bold and graphic and outside the box.
In contrast, the Springville Museum of Art is hosting its 38th Annual Quilt Show. It showcases the quilts of quilters across Utah which are precise, of new materials, mostly color coordinated, and full of beautiful and detailed stitching.
I liked both exhibits as they displayed their creators' artistic abilities and sensibilities but in strikingly different ways.

Thanks for the reminder about the quilt show in Springville - I usually try to go to that one. But I hadn't heard about the one at BYU so I'm glad to know about it!
