Heather's birthday quilt

I bought this quilt top as a kit a couple of years ago thinking it would be the perfect quilt for my oldest granddaughter who loves dolls and history.

See those elongated stars.  I was never sure about if I liked them and tried to come up with something different and never did and the kit sat and sat.  Then I saw the ruler set for this star block on sale and bought it.  I promised myself that I would finish that quilt before Heather's next birthday.

And I did because everyone grows up as you all know and I still wanted her to like it at least a little.

This was a Darlene Zimmerman pattern from her fabric collection in 2010.  I'm sure that the dimensions were dependent on the size of those fussy cut paper dolls.

It turned out that I enjoyed making the stars.  I even enjoyed the fussy cutting.

I really liked the fresh and light feel of the quilt and was happy to find this sweet polka dot fabric for the backing.

Heather liked it, too.

Happy birthday to my sweet girl who is now a young woman.
